Estepona is a small flat unspoilt Spanish town on the Costa del Sol, just 45 minutes from Malaga airport. With over 20 kms of award-winning blue flag beaches, numerous restaurants and activites, it's a perfect holiday town.

Costa del Sol is hot and sunny. From May onwards temperatures are generally over 25 degrees, rising as high as 35 degrees on some days in August and rarely dropping below 15 degrees throughout the winter.

Playa Cristal (Alcove Beach) is our favourite beach in Estepona. It's just 5 minutes from the apartment and has beach bars, showers and changing rooms.

La Rada is Estepona's most popular beach. It stretches for 2.6 km in the centre of Estepona with bars and cafes selling traditional Spanish and international dishes.

El Padron beach is just a few km east of the town. It's a convenient alternative to the other beaches and is very popular on summer weekends.

Estepona's certainly not just about relaxing on the beaches - if you're the active type, you'll also feel well at home here. There are golf courses, tennis courts, watersports, quad-biking, mountain biking and hiking.

The local sports centre is open to non-members and includes paddle tennis courts, an indoor swimming pool, jacuzzi, sauna, steam room and gymn.

Estepona also has dolphin trips and even boasts a safari park - 10 minutes by car/taxi.

One of the great joys of Estepona is simply strolling along the impressive promenade and soaking up the atmosphere.

Some of Estepona's best restaurants can be found in the nearby port - just two minutes from the apartment. But we recommend exploring to see what takes your fancy, there are many to choose from both in the town centre and up the quaint back streets.

Best fish restaurant in Estepona, very fresh and worth a visit.

There's plenty of nightlife in the town centre as well as in the port. There's an irish bar and plenty of tapas bars where the major sports events are are shown.

The H10 Estepona Palace hotel is just 10 minutes walk from the apartment and has a piano bar with live entertainment every night.

Puerto Banus - just 20 minutes away by car - has many all night clubs and discos.

RONDA - 1 hour by car
Just inland with gorges, caves, museums and the oldest bullring in Andulucia

TARIFA - 1 hour 15 minutes by car
Windsurfing beach on the Atlantic coast, surfers delight, cafes, good shops and port to North Africa - you can cross to Morocco by catarmaran in 35 minutes

MIJAS - 45 minutes by car
Inland, horse and carts, old churches and quaint gift shops and handicrafts

GIBRALTAR - 45 minutes by car
Fantastic caves, feed the barbary apes and catch up on your duty-free shopping
